  • YIN - Body segment positions are aligned and optimized for protection and defense

  • YANG - Joint angles and segment positions are optimized for offense and mobility

Simple but not simple.

Utilizing your natural body mechanics NOT contending with them.

The "starting position" and the training of the Starting Phase is considered one of the fundamental ways to improve acceleration and performance in the biomechanics of many sports.

The starting position is key to the next phase of movement .... the Initiation Phase

A number of key sport biomechanical principles are incorporated into the JKD Ready Stance to optimize explosive acceleration including;
1. Low Center of Mass (COM)
2. Knee Flexion angles with both appropriate step length and step width
3. Rear foot position will maximize impulse (ground reaction force application)
